Cupping therapy is a form of manual therapy in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and as a type of deep-tissue massage.
This form of therapy has been used by manual therapists for hundreds of years to help treat a wide array of issues. At our clinic, we limit the use of cupping to help with musculoskeletal issues of the body.

At Kinetica, the cupping most commonly done is with silicone cups that do not require the use of a flammable substance. versus the classical glass technique. This also makes it an easier technique to implement as part of your treatment session. In some cases our therapists use an oil based cream at the same time that allows them to drag the cups along the surface of your skin for a massage-like effect.
This technique is used by several of our therapists (both physiotherapists, our chiropractor and also one of the massage therapists) and can be incorporated into your treatment.

We are always striving to maximize patient results and trying to bring to our patients techniques that can help achieve that. Cupping is just one example of how we go about doing this.
